Giuliani calls for Afghanistan troop "surge"

WOLFEBORO, New Hampshire (Reuters) - Republican presidential contender Rudy Giuliani on Wednesday called for doubling U.S. combat troops in Afghanistan as part of a broader military expansion.
"One of the things we should do ... immediately, we should double the number of our troops, our American-led combat troops in Afghanistan," the former New York mayor said in a speech at a World War II museum.

Giuliani bolsters foreign policy team
While John McCain’s campaign team is getting smaller, Rudy Giuliani’s is getting bigger.
The former New York City mayor announced his foreign policy team today. It will be headed by Charles Hill, a former executive aide to Ronald Reagan’s Secretary of State George P. Shultz. He’s also a lecturer in the International Security Studies program at Yale University and a research fellow at the Hoover Institution.
